Thanks for the shout-out on the greasemonkey script! Apparently it's FF3-only, but I am working on fixing it for FF2

I believe @evan un-officially endorsed "dent" as the analog to "tweet"

WOW... you blasted out this awesome post with a great run down of the day's activities. Thanks for crediting me with the FAIL MOOSE! Now I need someone to create the graphic and Identi.ca to adopt it for outages.

Next, I need a MOBILE application for my crackberry so I can deet anywhere!

Keep up the good info on Identi.ca stuff! thanks! :o)

I don't think that identi.ca can bring down Twitter, despite all the "down-times" it has it's the major micro blogging platform and will remain so.
  • sarahintampa · 1 year ago
It doesn't have to bring it down, necessarily, it will allow you cross-post to twitter soon.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
A lot of people are missing the point with identi.ca anyways - it's just one microblogging service to be offered on the common Laconica platform ... and their goal is to act as a "Federated" service, a la email or Jabber. In other words, there will be hundreds of microblogging systems, all networked together with an overall resiliency much greater than anything a single provider could have.
  • elliottng · 1 year ago
Not thrilled about another microblogging service to keep up with! What would get me to adopt this is if I could cross-post from identi.ca to Twitter, and also easily get my Twitter feed and a bunch of canned Summize queries (e.g. replies, archive, my name search) integrated into identi.ca.

thanks for jumping on top of this and covering the grassroots activity around this start! Amazing what Twitter frustration will bring. Is this just a form of Twitter therapy and we'll all be back to Twitter when Twitter stops stressing?
  • workingwriter · 1 year ago
    elliottng,

Ping.fm will do the cross-posting for you (pingyoulater is the current invite code). Don't know about the other half.
  • sarahintampa · 1 year ago
cross-posting to twitter is an upcoming feature - and who wants to bet the Summize search will be, too...at least via greasemonkey? :)
  • madpotter · 1 year ago
I think this kind of thing begins to establish several different levels of users- Those who are are happy with a cool thingy like Twitter and those who continue to chase the *new* cool thingy. I like the fail whale. I am sticking with Twitter, for now anyway. ;-)

    Awesome post Sarah!

I have to laugh a bit at the Scobleizer issue. How do US trademarks apply to a Canadian service whose "offending" member could be residing in a 3rd country altogether? *boggle*
  • martin_english · 1 year ago
... and of course, how many people in the whole world have the last name scoble ?
  • mondegg · 1 year ago
I looked up "Scobleizer" at the US Patent and Trademark office site, and it came up empty anyway. Maybe Scoble's confused.
  • nalei · 1 year ago
interested in how resilient this is going to be but hope that they have learnt from twitters shortcomings. in the meantime, i am considering taking the i out of twitter.
