My 99 yr old grandmother passed away recently. She was a lovely woman. But I have to share this funny "Wife's Daily Prayer that we found recently among her things
On the back of the card were "Ten Rules for a Happy and Successful Wife." My thoughts after reading this were that I WOULD HAVE BEEN A TROUBLEMAKER BACK THEN!!

TEN RULES FOR A HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
WIFE
1. Avoid arguments. Your husband has his share from other sources.
2. Don't nag.
3. Don't drink or eat to excess.
4. If you offend your husband, always ask him for forgiveness before you retire.
5. Compliment your husband liberally. It make him a better husband.
6. Budget wisely together. Live within your income.
7. Be sociable and go out with your husband.
8. Dress neatly and attractively for your husband, and keep your home clean and cheerful.
9. Keep your household troubles to yourself.

My feelings exactly, very well put! I have been in search of an answer over these issues for years. I Just set up "another" mail account issuing an it an AutoResponder Free Zone. it's a better environment, but still requires manual work tag's, folders, & filter's. Hell, configuring the GUI will never be a process that's "completed successfully. (thanks Brian I'll check out DevonThink for sure!)

I want to share something with you folks I just Discovered! (this is so Awesome!) Head down to your super market, pick up a $12.00 4 gig USB key. Making sure it's a "Kingston". Plug it into your computer, you will find a complete interface (which lives, and runs on the key). Including a full media organizer, web browser, (which is super slick & security based), plus tons of apps. So now this is pretty nice, in fact real nice. But wait there's more! Download Google Chrome to it, making it the default browser.

All I can say is WOW!

It's freaking amazing! Speed - sound - graphics and every thing we prefer using chrome for, all super enhanced! I am very excited this, holds some real possibility of changing the way we, for sure I, use a computer. You can put the key in your pocket for use with any computer, everything runs on the key! Check it out ;)

I don't think we're going to get "Bob for the Internet" anytime soon, nor would I want that. The externalization of judgement (which is what we are always after) on top of the API-storm (constantly shifting functions and data structures) makes this a real tough one.

As far as archiving and searching your email is concerned you might like DevonThink. Their built in AI does a pretty good job of guessing what is related to what and gets better as the sample size increases.

Couldn't agree with you more.

FB has found a nitch that may prove useful for people like my wife, who's very shy and doesn't have many friends outside of her family. Through FB she's reunited with old friends from as far back as grade school and beyond. She was able to re-connect with her cousin, who is now living in Costa Rica, and because of that connection we were able to visit her this summer which resulted in our family having the vacation of a lifetime.

HOWEVER....

FB is completely and utterly useless for artists and musicians. I've been trying, for several years, to market my music through FB, but haven't had much success. From our own website and through CDBaby we've had considerably more success than through FB, even though I have several thousand "friends" on FB.

The problem with FB is that it's too restrictive for those wanting to market a product or a service. For instance, it's difficult, if not impossible, to have a FB profile AND a FB page. My understanding is that artists are forced to create a "page" if they want to market their music and they can no longer keep a "profile" for the same name/brand.

FB forces you to MOVE your profile to a "page", by allowing you to move your contacts, but then RESTRICTS the activities that one can perform from such a "page". For instance, I can't freely send a global message to all of my friends about a new song I wrote that's available on my website.

WHY NOT?! Why can't I just let the ENTIRE WORLD know about my new music through FB, if I wanted to? Instead, I'm crippled to only being able to make updates to my "wall" and other restrictive activities.

That is EXACTLY what I'd want to use a social networking site for. I would gather friends, then market my music to those "friends". How simple can that be for FB to implement. Not very, considering the technology available to their deep pockets.

I'd like to hear from other musicians out there and learn what experiences you've had with FB.
